If anyone is thinking of traveling to New Zealand, might I suggest a detour to the town of Tirau on the North Island? There you will find the unimaginatively-named, yet completely fabulous "Dog Building."
Intended to resemble a sheep dog, the building was created by artist Stephen Clothier from corrugated metal. The dog building, which houses the town information center, is only one of many corrugated metal creations in Tirau, which have become the tiny town's trademark and claim-to-tourism fame.
There's also a "Sheep Building" where wool items are
sold,
and a good shepherd outside a church, among other wonderful things.
Has anyone ever seen any of these in person? I'd love to hear about the experience, or see selfies!
